About Celine Flamen

Born into a family of doctors and musicians, Celine Flamen began learning the cello at the age of 6 and the piano at 8.
After studying at the conservatories of Poitiers and Boulogne Billancourt, she graduated from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris in 1997 with first prizes in cello and chamber music in Michel Strauss, Alain Planès and Christian Ivaldi’s classes.
She also did follow the Master Classes of Janos Starker, Gary Hoffman and Kristoff Henkel.
She was cellist co-soloist in Orchestre Nouvelle Aquitaine then cello tutti in Orchestre National d’Ile de France.
Guest soloist in Bandart Orchestra, Liège Philharmonie, Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine among others, she is invited to perform a as chamber music player in numerous Festival in Europe, such as Stradun Classic in Croatia, Festival International de Musique de Chambre de Thèze,Elba Music Festival, Festivo, Salon de Provence.
Invited as a soloist to perform in Duo with Gordan Nikolic with Slovenian Philharmonic, Symfonica dell Valles, Vojvodanski Novi Sad Orchestra and JONC in Catalogna.
Her Sonata Duo début in Résonance Music Festival in Paris Ste Chapelle with pianist Aya Okuyama made a remarquable impression. She plays all repertoire on Grancino son cello set up with gut strings.
Research
Development and research of playing on gut strings, exploration of the body’s relationship to the instrument, learning Classical Pilates, will lead her to become a certified Pilates Mat Instructor in 2021 with teacher Ann Van Huffel, herself certified instructor from Romana’s Pilates School in New York. Céline is currently creating the “Cello Fysio” platform, the result of this exploration of the body’s relationship with the instrument inspired by Pilates method and adapted for the musician’s needs.



Since 2010, she has performed in Europe in many different chamber music festivals such as “Zutphen Cello Fest” in Holland, “Aurora” and Sweden, “Bunt” in Serbia, “Festivo” in Germany, Stradun Classic in Croatia and “Salon”, Festival International de Thèze in France…She took the initiative to create “De Bewoners”, a chamber music collective based in Belgium during the period of isolation.

As a soloist, she has played with the Simfonica dell Valles Orchestra, the Young Orchestra of Catalonia, the Festivo Orchestra, the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra and Slovenska Filharmonia.
She teaches Pilates and Cello in her own studio. She is regularly invited as a cello or chamber music teacher by the Aurora Chamber festival in Sweden, Youth Orchestra of Catalonia (JONC), Youth Orchestra of the Canary Islands, Youth Orchestra of Spain (Jonde), IMCSardinia, Musica Reservata (Belgium) and Talents Summer Academy in Brescia Italy.
Celine had the joy to share the stage with, among others, Eric Le Sage, Maria Meerovitch, André Cazalet, Andrew Marriner, Roman and Milena Simovic, Jean François Heisser, Marija Pavlovic, Julien Hervé, Roman Spitzer, Johannes Erkes, Julia Gallego, David Quiggle, Stephane Garin…
She has recorded for the Nomad Music label with Julien Hervé and Sub Rosa with Ensemble 0.
She plays since 2024, an Italian Cello from 1710, probably by Giovanni Grancino’s son, set up with open A gut string and three Pirastro Gold wounded gut strings.
